Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, launched a new book that is Children’s story book on peace to celebrate the 2015 international Day of Peace According to the president, he launched the story book which he titled “Peace Story for Children” in order to maintain sustainable peace in the country.

The book is just 14-pages booklet and is illustrated with various cartoons, Obasanjo during the launch said that it had become imperative to sow the seeds of peace in the minds of children whose minds were more receptive to ideas.

The launch was attended by pupils from different secondary schools in Ogun state. The representative of the former president, Prof. Peter Okebukola, said that since the youths were the leaders of tomorrow, imbibing the essence of peace when young should be vigorously pursued.

Prof. Peter Okebukola, said that Obasanjo called him overnight to tell Nigerian children to imbibe the culture of peace while still young, While addressing the pupils who participated in a debate with the topic, “Whose Responsibility to ensure peace? Is it the people or the government?”,

We have learnt that students needs the proper guide on the Format For Writing A Good SIWES Report, students industrial work experience scheme (SIWES) is a programm for a period of 3 months to one(1) year for students in science based courses which carries about 3-6 units in their second semester credit load.

After the 3 – 6 months of industrial training (I.T), every student is required to write a technical report of his or her I.T experience, which is basically on all your activities in the work place, which carries 25% of the total siwes marks. Because of the heavy credit load of the (I.T), every student really have to learn very well designed Format For Writing A Good SIWES Report.

After the whole thing, Industrial Training Fund (I.T.F), allocated the following marks to the reports.

  • Log book Record/ Presentation: 25 marks
  • Technical Report: 25 marks
  • Attitudinal Observation: 10 marks
  • Employers Report: 25 marks
  • Oral interview by department (I.T defence): 15 marks.

HERE ARE THE FORMAT FOR WRITING A GOOD SIWES REPORT

In writing a good technical I.T report the following format should be used carefully to get your full marks in the 3-6 months, even if you where engaged in any other thing which could not permit you to go to work everyday, with this format you can write better than those who have spent every of their seconds in the work place.

COVER PAGE : We are starting with the cover page which should contain the students name, department, matriculation Number, the course code eg (AGR 402), period of attachment (dates should be quoted), your employers name Or your I.T co-ordinator and location of the place were the student did the I.T.

TABLE OF CONTENTS: This should contain the a fore mentioned and four chapters.

APPRECIATION PAGE OR DEDICATION PAGE: For example I thank God Almighty for His protection and guardian in my life and having carried me this far. I also appreciate my parents Mr./Mrs Joseph Nwite for their direction, protection and support.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT PAGE: Here you have to acknowledge the person who you think without, you couldn’t have done the I.T. Example, I acknowledge my I.T HOD Mr Nwabuzor Chukwuemeka, the permanent secretary Mr Fidelis Nwankwo and the commissioner Chief Nome Ogodoali. I also acknowledge my I.T Co-ordinator, Dr Chima Njoku.

CHAPTER 1 : The Chapter 1 of you I.T report should contain the introduction, brief history of the firm or ministry where you carried out your training and its organizational chart.

CHAPTER 2 : This should contain all your activities during your training period, and should be done lucidly.

CHAPTER 3 : All the Problems which you encountered during the training period should be well stated here.

CHAPTER 4 : Your chapter 4 is the conclusion and general appraisal of the programme. Diagrams, graphs and sketches should be used where necessary.

NOTE: It is advisable to use font size 14, New times roman and 2.0 line spacing. And most contain an organizational chart, as stated earlier.

Hajj disaster: Over 717 people who went for pilgrim from different parts of the world were on Thursday killed in a crush outside the Muslim holy city of Mecca, while another 863 people were injured in the incident, officials in Saudi Arabia say.

Saudi Arabia King, Salman bin Abdulaziz, said in a statement. “ I express my condolences to me, to you and to all pilgrims for the stampede that happened today in Mina. I also express my condolences to the relatives of the victims. We asked the concerned authorities to investigate into the causes of the dramatic incident and come out with the results of the investigations as soon as possible,”

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Supreme leader of Iran said that, the Saudi Arabia government should accept responsibility for the crush, which led to the death of over 100 of the citizens.

It can be seen from previous tragedies bellow at Mecca, that Thursday’s tragedy is the worst death incident to occur during the pilgrimage in 25 years, despite the Saudi authorities spending billions to improve infrastructure.

  • January 2006: 346 pilgrims killed and 289 injured in the “stoning of the devil” at Mina, during the last day of Hajj.
  • February 2004: 251 people killed and 244 injured during a ritual at Mina.
  • April 1998: around 180 pilgrims trampled to death, panic broke out after many fell from an overpass.
  • April 1997: 343 pilgrims killed and 1,500 injured in a fire in an overcrowded tent at Mina.
  • July 1990: 1,426 people killed, mainly Pakistani and Indonesian pilgrims, in a stampede in an overcrowded pedestrian tunnel connecting Mecca, Mina and Arafat.
  • July 1987: 402 pilgrims killed and thousands injured in a clash between Iranian demonstrators and Saudi security forces.
  • December 1975: 200 pilgrims killed in a fire in a tent colony.

It was also reported that some Nigerians who also went for the Mecca were among the victims in the world worst pilgrimage deadly incident.
