this is good news... but Ubuntu is also providing FREE shipping of their CDs. i ordered some so that i can distribute them among relatives and friends. there were about 50 cds. they even sent them to me but sad news, the bloody "foreign post" at the GPO wanted TAX from me. on the CD package it was clearly writtin: "FREE CDs for free distribution"
but the guys wouldn't agree... at the end, as usual, they wanted Tk. 3000/- as bribe!!

i wanted to write this in bangla but couldn't figure out the way of writing it here...

হ্যা shipit [ http://shipit.ubuntu.com/ ] এর মাধ্যমে উবুন্টু সিডি পাওয়া যায় এবং তা আসতে অনেক সময় লাগে । তাই হয়তো বিডিওএসএন এই ব্যবস্থা করেছে । আর GPO ব্যাপারটা কি করবেন ভাই এটাতো বাংলাদেশ বোঝেন না

এখানে বাংলায় লেখতে হলে আপনাকে ইউনিকোডে লেখতে হবে । এজন্য আপনি

এখান থেকে ইউনিজয় ডাউনলোড করে নিতে পারেন । এর লেআউট টি বিজয়ের মতই তাই যদি পূর্বে বিজয় ব্যবহার করে থাকে এখানে লেখতে সমস্যা হবেনা । আর এখানে ইউনিকোডের জন্য ফন্ট এমবেড করা আছে । তাই লেখতে হলে ইউনিকোডেই লেখতে হবে ।

The ubuntu cd is not available all over the country, even not in the center of dhaka. The bdosn may arrange a distributing system through any company or shop in ctg, rajshahi,khulna,sylhet etc. Bdosn may open a aweb site in bangla for give information. thanks

বিডিোএসএনের সিডি সংগ্রহ করতে অনেক কষ্ট হয়েছে। তারপর পেয়েছি ৭টার পরিবর্তে ৩টা। সিডি ছিল না।

How to write Bangla in Ubuntu

There are a lots of software and developer who are working for developing bangla in windows. But I did not find any software which can solve the writing problem in ubuntu. This is the matter of sorrow. Though there is a built in system to write bangla in ubuntu but it's is very complicated. Do you know any easy way to write way to write bangla in ubuntu. actually a want to use ubuntu permanently as my OS. but I have to go to windows only for Bangla.
